BAUTCH TO OVERSEE MARADÆS GREAT LAKES REGIONAL OPERATIONS
The U.S. Maritime Administration has appointed Doris J. Bautch to director of the agency’s Great Lakes region.
Bautch will manage MarAd’s programs in the Great Lakes, including training for staff in the maritime industries and participation in regional and intermodal transportation development.
Prior to this appointment, Bautch served as chief of MarAd’s Division of Ports in Washington. She was responsible for chairing the National Port Readiness Working Group, improving port and cargo security, conveying surplus federal property for port use, port assessments and developing reports on the public port industry and port finance.
Bautch also served as the U.S. delegate to the Organization of American States Inter-American Committee on Ports and headed the organization’s Technical Advisory Group on Port Security and its Port Training Subcommittee.
Before joining MarAd in 1989, Bautch served as director of trade development for the Port of Greater Baton Rouge; port marketing analyst for the Port of New Orleans; assistant manager for Hellenic Lines, and a transportation manager for Pillsbury.
