BDP, GRUPO MESQUITA CREATE LOGISTICS JOINT VENTURE
BDP International and Grupo Mesquita of Brazil plan to form a full-service air and ocean logistics joint venture in South America.
The joint venture, BDP/South America, will be based in Sao Paulo and staffed with employees from both firms. The companies will share their expertise in transportation, warehousing, distribution, customs brokerage, freight forwarding and logistics information systems.
Grupo Mesquita has 700 employees, a fleet of 150 trucks and 150,000 square feet of warehouse capacity. Its clients include Compaq Computers, Eastman Chemical, GM Brazil, GM Mexico, Pirelli Cables, Proctor & Gamble, Volkswagen and Wal-Mart.
BDP, based in Philadelphia, serves 4,000 customers worldwide, including Du Pont, Sony, Hercules and ICI.
