The international shipping association opened a new office in Singapore, which it will be sharing with staff from the Baltic Exchange and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
The Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) has opened a new office in Singapore to increase services to its members in the Southeast Asia region and enhance collaboration with other regional maritime associations, the Denmark-based organization said.
The office will be headed by Maite Bolivar Klarup, formerly head of communication for Thome Ship Management in Singapore.
The office in central Singapore will also be shared with staff from the Baltic Exchange and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, forming what BIMCO called “a small ‘hub’ of maritime organizations in the area.”
“With offices in both Shanghai and Singapore we look forward to improving our services to members and to working in closer collaboration with the other maritime associations in the region,” BIMCO Secretary General Angus Frew said in a statement.
BIMCO is the world’s largest international shipping association, with 2,200 members across 130 countries. Its members include shipowners, vessel operators, managers, brokers and agents.
