BLG Logistics signs operating contract with bremenports

The Offshore Terminal Bremerhaven should be handed over to BLG Logistics at the end of 2018 or beginning of 2019, according to bremenports Managing Director Robert Howe.

bremenports, the German port manager of the ports of Bremen and Bremerhaven, signed an operating contract with BLG Logistics, which will operate the 25-hectare Offshore Terminal Bremerhaven (OTB) currently under construction, bremenports said.
BLG will operate the OTB for 30 years at its own expense and risk, and in return, the logistics provider will pay a user fee to Bremen.
The terminal should be ready to be handed over to BLG Logistics at the end of 2018 or beginning of 2019, bremenports Managing Director Robert Howe said.
Once OTB commences operations, between two and three jack-up vessels will be able to operate at its 500-meter long quay.
Work on OTB commenced at the end of 2015 with the installation of geotextile bags at the foot of the dyke, followed by the clearing of land in January. By the end of April, munitions detection and clearance will be finished.
Overall, the project for the new terminal will cost an estimated 180 million euros (U.S. $202.2 million).
Since 2012, BLG has provided an interim solution for wind turbine storage and transhipment at the ABC peninsula, a section of Bremerhaven’s Auto Terminal. BLG has also been involved in the erection of offshore wind farms at this site.
