BNSF LAUNCHES MEXI-MODAL SERVICE
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Co. has launched Mexi-Modal, an intermodal service that the company hopes will create a seamless transportation network connecting major markets in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
BNSF will coordinate the entire transborder shipping process, door-to-door, through cooperation with Canadian National Railway Co., Transportacion Ferroviaria Mexixicana and several Mexican trucking companies.
Mexi-Modal service comprises three distinct products, MidBridge, Laredo and MexiStack. MidBridge allows purchase of products to occur at the 'middle of the bridge' between Laredo, Texas, and Mexico. Laredo allows U.S. and Canadian customers to store freight at a warehouse in Laredo.
