BNSF LINKS WITH CNÆS ROADRAILER NETWORK

Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Co. has connected with Canadian National Railway Co.'s bimodal RoadRailer network to provide service between Montreal and Toronto and the U.S. Pacific Southwest.

CN and BNSF use a common terminal in Chicago. Both lines use 53-foot Wabash National RoadRailer trailers and bogies in unit train service.

For BNSF, the service expands its Ice Cold Express service, which moves Pacific Southwest fruits and vegetables to consumer markets to Chicago and now, via CN lines, to Canada.

BNSF started the Ice Cold Express service in 1999 as a weekly link for temperature-controlled products between Southern California and Chicago, with over-the-road service to Midwestern and Northeastern locations. The service was expanded to twice weekly in May.

Southbound, CN's RoadRailer service will be able to move retail products, food, beverages, automotive parts, packaging from Canada to Arizona and California.

Mark VII a Memphis-based intermodal management company, manages sales and operations service for BNSF's Ice Cold Express.
