BNSF Logistics buys Vectora’s wind turbine transport assets

BNSF Logistics said it will integrate the specialized road equipment for towers with its wind turbine blade transport service, dubbed “Blade Runner.”

   BNSF Logistics, a subsidiary of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, has acquired the wind turbine transportation assets of Vectora Transportation, a Chicago-based third party logistics services provider.
   The amount of equipment involved and financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
   “Vectora’s tower fixture technology and market position in the wind energy arena are the perfect complement to BNSF Logistics’ existing service portfolio supporting wind energy logistics activity,” said Ray Greer, president of BNSF Logistics, in a statement.
   Vectora’s equipment can accommodate different sizes of wind turbine towers. 
   BNSF Logistics said it will integrate Vectora’s road equipment with its wind turbine blade transport service via ocean and rail, dubbed “Blade Runner.”
   The Flower Mound, Texas-based company has stepped up the expansion of its logistics services geared to meeting the wind energy sector’s increasingly complex transportation requirements.
