BNSF Logistics, LLC, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway-owned Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC, has launched a new subsidiary in Mexico called BNSF Railway Servicios de Logistica, the company said.
The intermodal third-party logistics service provider said the new unit, which will be based in Monterrey, Mexico, will strengthen its both its North American and global service offerings.
“The opening of Logistica’s office in Monterrey means that BNSF Logistics is now present at a local level for the hands-on movement of industrial products with a focus on project cargo and rail services throughout Mexico,” BNSF Logistics added.
The BNSF Railway Servicios de Logistica subsidiary will be led by Gerardo Guarjardo, who was recently named director of Mexico projects and rail services. Guarjardo, previously market manager for petroleum products Minerals and Machinery at BNSF Railway’s Mexico subsidiary, comes to the BNSF Logistics team with more than 20 years of experience in the logistics industry.
“Monterrey is an ideal location for BNSF Logistics’ first expansion into Mexico, as it is Mexico’s third largest city and has close proximity to the U.S. border,” said Ray Greer, president of BNSF Logistics. “The Monterrey Region is strategically important to our growth plans in Mexico, and having a local presence is key to developing vendor and client relationships.”
With the launch of its new Logistica unit, BNSF Logistics now has more than 26 offices across North America.
