BNSF Railway buys site at Dallas Logistics Hub
Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway has purchased 198 acres of land at the Dallas Logistics Hub being developed by the Allen Group. The deal includes an option for an additional 164 acres.
The property is located in the cities of Lancaster and Dallas, and provides more than 9,000 feet of rail frontage and represents a portion of the 2.5 miles of BNSF track frontage within the hub.
Located 12 miles south of downtown Dallas, developers say the 6,000-acre inland port hopes to eventually have 60 million square feet of distribution, manufacturing, office and retail space. The complex became part of Foreign Trade Zone earlier this year and will have two intermodal terminals operated by BNSF and Union Pacific. An air cargo airport is also planned.
