BOEING PICKS PARTNERS FOR FREIGHTER CONVERSIONS
Boeing’s new Airplane Services business unit, launched in March, has
chosen a network of partners to provide aircraft modification services,
including freighter conversions, to customers worldwide.
According to the proposed agreements, Boeing Airplane Service will give
engineering and modification design data to its partners, who will do the
actual conversion work. Boeing plans to design freighter kits for
B747-400s, B737s, B757s, B767s, MD-80s and MD-90s, adding to kits the company already has
for B747-200s, DC-10s and MD-11s.
Boeing’s new partners are: Aeronovali, B.F. Goodrich, Israel Aircraft
Industries, Singapore Technologies Aerospace, and a new consortium of
Taiwanese companies. Boeing maintains relationships with Swissair SR
Technics, TAECO of China, and ST Mobile Aerospace Engineering.
