Brussels Airport posts 7.8% growth in airfreight volumes

The northern European airport’s cargo volumes rose 7.8 percent year-over-year in 2015 due to the arrival of four new cargo carriers.

Brussels Airport handled 489,303 tons of cargo in 2015, a 7.8 percent increase from 2014, the airport said.
The growth can be attributed to the arrival of four new cargo carriers, Brussels Airport Company CEO Arnaud Feist said.
Freighter cargo volumes for 2015 totaled 344,989 tons, an 11.4 percent increase from 2014. Freighter cargo volumes consisted of 144,001 tons of full freighter cargo and 200,988 tons of integrator cargo, a year-over-year increase of 18.1 percent and 7.0 percent, respectively.
Belly cargo volumes remained flat at 144,314 tons.
