The Port of Busan’s newest container terminal, BNCT, expects to have an annual throughput of 1.7 million TEUs for the full year in 2015.
Busan New Container Terminal (BNCT) said it expects to have an annual throughput of 1.7 million TEUs for 2015, which would be a significant increase from 2014, when the terminal handled 1.41 million TEUs.
BNCT has been thriving since it opened in 2012. In the last six months alone, BNCT welcomed seven new notable services including five Ocean3 Alliance services, MSC’s New Falcon service and CMA CGM’s CIMEX1 service, which combined, bring a throughput of 1 million TEUs each year to Busan’s New Port, BNCT said.
The terminal encompasses 840,000 square meters with a quay length of 1,400 meters and four berths. From May 2015, the terminal has had an annual handling capacity of 2.5 million TEUs.
