Evergreen, COSCO, Hanjin and Yang Ming issued a seasonal suspension for their jointly operated AWS/NUE3 loop between Asia, Central America and the U.S. East Coast.
Ocean carriers Evergreen Line, COSCO, Hanjin and Yang Ming will suspend their jointly operated AWS/NUE3 loop between Asia, Central America and the U.S. East Coast.
The loop’s last voyage will be week 47 with the Nagoya Tower (Ningbo ETA, Nov. 19), according to both COSCO and Hanjin.
The AWS/NUE3 has a rotation of Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Busan, Cristobal, Savannah, Charleston, Cristobal, Busan and Ningbo.
The loop operates with nine vessels with an average capacity of 4,408 TEUs, according to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting.
The adjacent chart, built using data from BlueWater Reporting’s Capacity Report, illustrates how the seasonal suspension of the AWS/NUE3 will decrease total weekly deployed capacity on container shipping services from Asia to the U.S. East Coast by 3.2 percent, from 139,197 TEUs to 134,789 TEUs.
Total weekly deployed capacity on container-shipping services from Asia to Central America will drop 5.4 percent, from 81,783 TEUs to 77,375 TEUs.
Once the AWS/NUE3 is suspended, 23 container-shipping services will deploy capacity from Asia to the U.S. East Coast, while 14 container-shipping services will deploy capacity from Asia to Central America.
