C.H. Robinson profit increases

   C.H. Robinson said it had second quarter net profit of $111 million, 14 percent more than the $97 million earned in the second quarter of 2010.

   Revenue in the quarter ending June 30 was $2.7 billion, 10 percent more than the $2.5 billion in the second quarter of 2010.

   Reporting on its various business segments the company said:

   ' Truck net revenue, which consist of truckload and less-than-truckload services, were $314 million quarter, 21 percent more than the second quarter of 2010. Truckload volumes were up 3.5 percent.

   ' Intermodal net revenue increased 15 percent to $10.9 million, due to increased net revenue margin and price increases. Price increases were driven by market conditions and the increased price of fuel. Intermodal volumes increased slightly over the second quarter of 2010.

   ' Ocean transportation net revenue increased 13 percent to $16.4 million, driven by higher pricing, partially offset by volume declines.

   ' Air transportation net revenue increased 1.5 percent to $11.4 million.
