CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY JOINS NACS

Canadian Pacific Railway has become a participant in the North American Container System, which allows the free interchange of 48-foot and 53-foot domestic containers between its member railroads.

NACS was created in February 1996 as a North American doublestack network, encompassing nearly every major U.S. market. Its members are Burlington Northern Santa Fe, CSX Intermodal, I&M Rail Link, Kansas City Southern Railway Co., Norfolk Southern Railway Co., Texas-Mexican Railway Co., Transportacion Ferroviaria Mexicana, and Wisconsin Central Transportation Corp.

“CPR's participation in NACS will provide customers shipping between Canada, U.S. and Mexico increased competitive options for traffic currently moving over the road,’ said John McBoyle, general manager, of Canadian Pacific's domestic intermodal.
