Capital Product Partners L.P. acquires ninth containership

The new 9,288-TEU containership was purchased for $81.5 million and is on charter to CMA CGM for five years.

   Capital Product Partners L.P. has acquired a new 9,288 TEU containership, CMA CGM Uruguay, this week for $81.5 million, according to a statement from the company.
   Built by Daewoo-Mangalia Heavy Industries, the ship is on a time charter to CMA CGM for 5 years (+90/-30 days) at a gross daily charter rate of $39,250.
   A similar ship, the CMA CGM Amazon, acquired earlier this year, is also chartered to CMA CGM for five years and another will be delivered in January 2016.
   Capital Product Partners L.P. currently owns 34 ships including 20 medium range product tankers, four Suezmax crude oil tankers, nine post panamax container vessels and one Capesize bulk carrier.
