The new British cargo airline, which commenced operations from its headquarters at London Stansted Airport in February 2016, plans to expand its airfreight network into North and South America later this year.
CargoLogicAir, a new United Kingdom-based cargo airline, took delivery of its Boeing 747-8 freighter at the Farnborough International Airshow 2016.
The airline said in a statement it plans to use the second 747 as part of its plans to expand its airfreight network into North and South America later this year and operate a fleet of five Boeing 747 freighters by 2021.
CargoLogicAir commenced operations in February 2016 with twice-weekly Boeing 747-400 ACMI flights from its headquarters at London Stansted Airport. The airline’s growth strategy is based on operating a fleet of five Boeing 747 freighters within its first five years of operations.
“Taking delivery of our first Boeing 747-8 Freighter is another important milestone for CargoLogicAir and a clear sign of the high quality of service we are committed to providing our customers in the UK and worldwide,” said Chief Executive Officer Dmitry Grishin.
“The -8F is a remarkable aircraft capable of carrying virtually any cargo from temperature-sensitive fresh produce and pharmaceuticals to long aerospace and oil&gas cargoes through its nose door,” he added. “It is a highly efficient aircraft and offers us a 16% increase in payload over our 747-400, increasing our capacity on a single flight to 137 tonnes.”
