Ocean carriers CMA CGM, UASC, Hanjin and CSCL will terminate their jointly operated REX3/ARC2 loop between China, Malaysia and the Red Sea.
A container shipping service operating between China, Malaysia and the Red Sea will terminate operations this week.
The loop is referred to as the following by its vessel providers: REX3 by CMA CGM, ARC2 by UASC, RES2 by CSCL, and RS2 by Hanjin.
The last voyage of the REX3/ARC2 will be the Feb. 24 sailing of the Hanjin Mundra from Ningbo, according to all of the vessel operators’ most recent online service schedules.
The service has a rotation of Ningbo, Xiamen, Yantian, Shekou, Port Kelang, Djibouti, Jeddah, Port Sudan, Djibouti, Port Kelang and Ningbo.
According to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting, the REX3/ARC2 operates with seven vessels with an average vessel capacity of 5,040 TEUs. Yang Ming and CMA CGM’s subsidiary lines ANL and Delmas purchase slot purchasers.
Although the REX3/ARC2 is ending, transits between Asia and Port Sudan in both directions are provided by Maersk Line’s Horn of Africa service, according to BlueWater Reporting.
Transits from Asia to Djibouti are provided by the Ocean3 Alliance’s MEX; while transits between Asia and Djibouti in both directions are offered by Maersk Line’s Horn of Africa, and PIL and APL’s RSS/REX.
The Horn of Africa and the RSS/REX, in addition to several other services, also offer transits between Asia and Jeddah.
