Linehaul truckload shipping costs in October increased 5.5 percent year-over-year, according to the Cass Truckload Linehaul Index.
This is an all-time high for the index, which Cass has been tracking since 2005.
Not only have linehaul costs been up over 2016 levels for the last seven months, but these increases have been growing ever larger, said Cass.
Cass partners with securities analyst firm Broughton Capital LLC to publish the Cass Truckload Linehaul Index. The index measures market fluctuations in per-mile truckload pricing, independent of additional cost components such as fuel and accessorials.
