Cavotec signs 10.3 million euro automated mooring order

The Swiss engineering group’s MoorMaster systems are scheduled to enter service in 2020.

Engineering group Cavotec announced Monday it had signed an approximately 10.3 million euro (about $11.68 million) agreement with an undisclosed port operator to equip two berths with automated mooring systems.
Deliveries for the MoorMaster systems are scheduled to begin later this year, with the systems entering service in 2020. Cavotec, headquartered in Lugano, Switzerland, will design, supply and commission the systems.
About 280 MoorMaster systems have performed about 500,000 moorings at ferry, bulk and container-handling ports, as well as locks and ship-to-ship applications worldwide, according to a Cavotech press release. The system can handle a containership up to 19,200 TEUs, moor vessels in 30 seconds and detach in 10 seconds.
A request by American Shipper to specify the port operator was not returned.
