CBP seizes $1.6m in counterfeit products from China

Nearly 10,000 counterfeit products, including medical equipment, automotive parts, luxury jewelry and electronics, were seized at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

   Nearly 10,000 counterfeit products from China valued at more than $1.6 million were seized during a week-long operation at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said.
    Counterfeit goods that were seized included medical equipment, automotive parts, luxury jewelry and electronics. The counterfeit products infringed the intellectual property rights of a wide range of brand names including Apple, Audi, Beats by Dr. Dre, BMW, Cartier, Gucci, Mercedes, Oakley, PANDORA, Porsche, Samsung, Tous, Toyota and more.
   The CBP’s Mobile Intellectual Property Enforcement Team carried out the operation, with the support from the Food and Drug Administration, Homeland Security Investigations and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
