CELANESE UNIT PICKS EXEL FOR LOGISTICS SERVICES IN TEXAS
Ticona, the technical polymers business of Celanese AG, has signed a long-term agreement for Exel, a U.K.-based provider of supply chain management services, to receive, package, transload, warehouse and ship Ticona’s ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene GUR products between two plants in Texas.
GUR resins, sold in powder form, are used to make specialized plastic products, such as surfaces for water filtration systems and battery plate separators.
Exel will manage the shipment of Ticona’s polyethylene powder in railcars from a new plant in Bishop, Texas, to Exel’s distribution hub on the City Park campus in Houston.
' “Our decision to outsource packaging and other services to Exel was a logical extension of our 15-year relationship,” said Bob Engle, Ticona’s GUR business director.
