Danish ocean carrier Maersk Line and it’s intra-Asia subsidiary line MCC have announced changes to their Asia-Pacific management team.
After 27 years within the A.P. Moller Maersk Group, the most recent nine of which were spent as CEO of the group’s Singapore-based intra-Asia container carrier subsidiary MCC, Tim Wickmann has announced plans to leave the company later this year.
Maersk Line and MCC announced changes to the Asia-Pacific management team June 21. As part of the changes, Bo Wegener, currently Maersk Line’s South East Asia Managing Director, will take over the role of MCC CEO, while Rupesh Jain, currently Maersk Line’s South Korea Country Manager, will relocate to Singapore and assume the role of South East Asia Managing Director.
The changes go into effect Aug. 1, according to MCC.
“I am very proud of what I have achieved in my 27 years with the A.P. Moller Maersk Group, in particular the success of MCC during my recent nine years as CEO and I now look forward to trying something new in life,” Wickmann said, without elaborating on what that “something new” could be.
“Tim has been the driving force behind MCC’s unparalleled success, and under his leadership MCC has grown into the successful company it is today. We thank him for his great contributions to the A.P. Moller Maersk Group and wish him every success in his career ahead,” Maersk Line’s Asia-Pacific CEO, Robbert van Trooijen, said in a statement.
“MCC is an extremely well-run company with a talented team, a strong brand built on partnership and a unique intra-Asia understanding,” said Wickmann’s successor, Wegener. “I look forward to working with the customers and the team to build on that success.”
“I am pleased to accept the role of Maersk Line’s South East Asia Managing Director,” said Jain. “South East Asia is emerging as one of the growth engines of the world’s economy with a number of highly productive import and export nations.”
