CHINA SHIPPING GROUP AND NORTON LILLY SET UP U.S. AGENCY

   China Shipping Group and U.S. shipping agent Norton
Lilly have set up a joint venture agency company in the U.S. in anticipation of the launch
of a transpacific container service by the carrier.
    The joint venture company is named China Shipping (North America)
Agency.
    Shanghai-based China Shipping Group confirmed that it plans to enter
the Pacific trade, but the start date of the service and its details have not been
finalized.
    The service is likely to start next month (September), according to
sources close to the carrier.
    Norton Lilly was previously agent for China Ocean Shipping Co.
China Shipping Group currently operates liner services on the intra-Asia, Asia-Europe and
Asia/Australia routes.
