CHINA SHIPPING WANTS MORE TIME TO RESPOND TO FMC ENQUIRY
China Shipping Container Lines Co. Ltd, a relative new-comer in the
U.S.-China trade, is seeking more time to respond to an information request made by the
U.S. Federal Maritime Commission concerning an investigation into alleged unfair shipping
restrictions imposed by the Chinese government.
The FMC wants trade information from the new carrier to update its record of
the dispute, which has been the subject of bilateral talks in recent years.
China Shipping says it needs more time to understand various U.S. laws that
affect ocean shipping. FMC asked that the trade information be filed by Jan. 18. China
Shipping has requested a March 21 filing deadline.
