Cargo division of China Southern Airlines will launch the first direct freighter link between the United Kingdom and China starting this week, the London Stansted Airport said.
China Southern Cargo is expanding its operations to include flights between Guangzhou and the London Stansted Airport starting this week.
The new route will utilize B777-200 freighters and will be the only direct freighter link between the United Kingdom and China, according to a statement from the airport.
The airline will initially offer two flights a week between Guangzhou and the London Stansted Airport and will expand to three flights a week before the year ends.
China Southern Cargo is a member of the SkyTeam Cargo alliance. Other members of the SkyTeam Cargo alliance include Aeroflot Cargo, Aerolineas Argentinas Cargo, AeroMexico Cargo, Air France-KLM Cargo, Alitalia Cargo, China Airlines Cargo, China Cargo Airlines, Czech Airlines Cargo, Delta Cargo and Korean Air Cargo.
China Southern Cargo operates between Guangzhou and Shanghai to major metropolitan areas including Amsterdam, Vienna, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Chicago and Vancouver.
The airline currently operates six B777-200 and two B747-400 freighters, and by the end of 2015, they will operate a total of 12 B777-200 freighters, according to SkyTeam Cargo.
