CHO YANG TAKES SPACE ON IRANIAN CARRIER’S SERVICES
Cho Yang, the embattled Korean shipping line that resigned from the United Alliance, is starting two services in the Mideast trades by taking space from Iranian carrier Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines.
“Cho Yang… has been trying to make it through a rather difficult period and, in particular, as part of a move to reform its business policy, will offer a new weekly service in Asia/Middle East and Middle East/Europe trade at around mid May,” the Korean carrier said.
Cho Yang is taking space on the Asia/Mideast “Pacific Container Line” service of the Iranian carrier, which calls at Shanghai, Inchon, Pusan, Kaoshiung, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Kelang and Dubai. Cho Yang’s involvement will start with the sailing of the “Iran Kerman,” calling at Shanghai on May 22.
It will also have space on the Mideast/Europe “Europe Container Line” of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines. Effective May 29, Cho Yang will offer space on this service, which calls at Felixstowe, Antwerp, Hamburg, Naples, Jeddah and Dubai.
Additionally, Cho Yang said that it has agreed with the Iranian carrier to start a vessel-sharing agreement on the Asia/Mideast/Europe route, due to be implemented in October. The joint service would employ eight ships of 2,700-TEU capacity, of which six would be operated by the Iranian carrier.
The service will include calls at Hong Kong, a South China port, Singapore, a Mediterranean port, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Felixstowe and Dubai.
