CII wants to see Connie go west

The Containerization and Intermodal Institute is seeking nominations for the organization's annual Connie Award.

The award, named after the ubiquitous shipping container, has been presented annually since 1972 to extraordinary individual contributors, innovators and leaders who have spurred the evolution of containerization and the intermodal industry.

This year may also mark a significant first for the award –presentation events on both coasts.

'The popularity and prestige of the Connie Award program has drawn attention and attendees from across the nation. We are seeing first hand the explosive growth of our industry and therefore are looking at the potential for adding a West Coast program,' said Joseph Cervenak, CII president. 'We are without borders and need to reach out and be all inclusive in our activities and our search for this year’s nominees.'

CII, which has awarded honorees from both coasts throughout the award's history, is looking to add the separate West Coast event if enough nominations for potential West Coast honorees are submitted. Deadline for all nominations is Aug. 15.

This year's event will take place Dec. 8 at The Newark Club in Newark, N.J. If a decision is made to go ahead with the West Coast event, a date and location will be released sometime after Aug. 15.

To nominate a person, visit www.containerization.org/nominations.htm or contact Barbara Yeninas, CII executive director, at (732) 817-9131 or execdir@containerization.org.
