CMA CGM, NORASIA TO REVISE ASIA/EUROPE AND PACIFIC SERVICES
Marseilles-based CMA CGM said that it is revising the itineraries and vessels deployments of two of its weekly east/west container services, as part of a cooperation agreement with Swiss carrier Norasia.
The current U.S./Asia/Europe “NCJ” service, operated by CMA CGM, will be revamped with a port rotation shortened to cover only the Asia/Europe trade.
The transpacific leg of the “NCJ” link will be transferred and added to the “Med Club Express” service of CMA CGM and Norasia, which currently connects the Mediterranean and Asia.
Norasia, which already shares space with CMA CGM on the “Med Club Express” service between the Mediterranean and Asia, will also have space on the transpacific leg of the service after the change.
As part of the itinerary changes, CMA CGM will transfer four ships of about 2,000-TEU capacity from the “NCJ” service to the new extended “Med Club Express” service. Norasia will continue to contribute four vessels to the “Med Club Express” vessel-sharing agreement with CMA CGM.
Details of the service modifications and their impact on port coverage and transit times have not been announced.
