The French container carrier said its logistics facility at DP World London Gateway Logistics Park is expected to commence operations in early summer next year.
CMA CGM will set up a multi-temperature logistics facility at the DP World London Gateway Logistics Park through a long-term lease.
Construction on the new 107,155-square-foot cold store facility will begin later in 2018, and operations are expected to start in early Summer 2019.
The facility will have IT traceability and management systems, and “represents a major milestone for the CMA CGM Group’s strategy to develop a global range of products in maritime transportation, but also in inland solutions and logistics,” the company said.
There will be chilled and frozen chambers to handle a variety of temperature-controlled products, and customers will be offered value-added services, such as product quality controls, packing, sorting, labeling, palletization or bagging. It will also offer customs clearance, the transfer of goods from the quay to the warehouse, and last-mile delivery.
CMA CGM says it is the world’s second largest carrier of reefer containers and that it brings cargo through the DP World London Gateway terminal on seven services.
