CN TO PROVIDE INTERNET-BASED TRACKING, MANAGEMENT FOR PAPER INDUSTRY
Canadian National said it will use IntelliTrans' supply chain management technology to offer enhanced Internet shipment tracking, tracing and management capabilities for paper products moving throughout North America.
The service is expected to provide paper mills that originate traffic on CN with original and dynamic estimated times of arrivals for shipments; explanations for significant changes in transit times; full intervention capabilities to manage shipments that are off-schedule; and online service performance reports for CN and its rail partners.
The deal between CN and IntelliTrans contemplates that CN customers will be able to monitor and manage individual paper rolls across multiple transport modes and warehouses. This will link all participants in the supply chain and provide a single point for inventory information, CN said.
The two companies will work jointly to develop relationships with other major rail carriers, warehouse operators, over-the-road carriers, short lines and other supply chain partners.
CN, based in Montreal, provides rail service through Canada and mid-America.
IntelliTrans, based in Atlanta, supplies logistics and supply chain optimization solutions for process manufacturers and commodity companies in North America and Europe.
