Diamond Logistics Northwest has leased 18 acres from the Port of Quincy, an inland intermodal port in Washington state, to expand its capability for cross-docking and consolidating perishable loads, the company recently said.
The property is located in the Port of Quincy’s Industrial Park #6 and is next to the new Amway Nutrilite Botanical Concentrate Manufacturing facility that is scheduled to be completed early next year.
The Port of Quincy buys property and develops it for manufacturing, distribution, high-tech, and data center users. The intermodal terminal is on the BNSF Railway mainline in the heart of Washington’s agriculture region.
Among Diamond Logistics Northwest’s clients is Cold Train, an express intermodal reefer service owned by Rail Logistics that operates six days a week between Quincy and Chicago. Diamond manages the local truck shuttles from local growers and distribution centers, and consolidates perishable loads when necessary to fill containers. A separate company handles drayage and logistics for dry goods moved by Cold Train.
Diamond said it will continue to operate its 15,000-square foot refrigerated warehouse just north of Quincy. The first phase of the new development is scheduled for construction in the next 18 months.
