Colombian firm purchases Savi RFID technology
Emprevi Ltda., a Colombian provider of logistics and security services for importers and exporters, said Tuesday it is purchasing U.S.-based Savi Technology’s SmartChain Transportation Security Solution, which used radio frequency identification to track container movements.
Emprevi, whose customers include U.S.-based public companies in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, consumer products, transportation and logistics industries, said it will integrate Savi TSS into a new Emprevi service offering called Global Trade Control, which provides continuous online monitoring of cargo containers and the contents, allowing rapid detection of potential security breaches.
In addition to using the technology to track container movements in Colombia, Emprevi said it would use the technology as a deterrent, and to provide end-to-end supply chain visibility for shipments.
