Commerce secretary visits Cuba

U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, who arrived in Cuba on Tuesday, will co-chair a regulatory dialogue with government officials from the long-embargoed Caribbean nation.

   U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker arrived in Havana on Tuesday and her first stop was to view the Mariel Special Development Zone’s container terminal and warehouse operation.
   Today, Pritzker will co-chair a regulatory dialogue with Cuban officials. While in the country, she will also meet with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez, and the Vice President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas.
   Pritzker’s visit to Cuba is the second by a U.S. cabinet official since the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba on July 20.
