æConnieÆ awards go to Capo, Gatti, Mack
The 2005 Containerization & Intermodal Institute's 'Connie' Awards will be given this year to James Capo, chairman and chief executive officer of the United States Maritime Alliance; Peter J. Gatti Jr., executive vice president of the National Industrial Transportation League; and Rudiger 'Rudy' Mack, president of Hapag-Lloyd America.
The awards are to be presented Dec. 8 during an industry luncheon at the Newark Club, in Newark, N.J.
Capo's association, the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), represents the management interests of ocean carriers, stevedores, and port groups on issues regarding labor relations. Capo has also been president of the New York Shipping Association, representing waterfront management in the Port of New York and New Jersey.
Gatti has worked for 19 years for the NIT League, a major organization of shippers, and been the league's executive vice president since 2003.
Mack, as president of Hapag-Lloyd (America) since 1999, is responsible for the North American, Caribbean, and Latin American operations of Hapag-Lloyd Container Line GmbH, a global transportation and logistics company.
