CONSOLIDATED FREIGHTWAYS ACQUIRES FORWARDER

   Consolidated Freightways, the big less-than-truckload transportation provider, has agreed to purchase FirstAir Inc., a St. Paul, Minn.-based air freight forwarder.

   FirstAir, through subsidiaries FlightMasters and SeaMasters, provides domestic and international air freight forwarding and full and less-than-containerload ocean freight transportation.

  

‘We believe FirstAir's non-asset-based freight forwarding capabilities will nicely complement CF's existing expedited transportation and logistics infrastructure,” said Pat Black, chief executive officer of Consolidated Freightways.

   The company, founded in 1988, has offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth and London.
