CONSOLIDATED FREIGHTWAYS OPENS LOREDO TERMINAL

Consolidated Freightways on Friday opened what it says is the largest less-than-truckload terminal on the U.S./Mexico border, near Laredo, Texas.

The 93-door, 51,000-square-foot terminal is part of CF Mexico's $17-million project to expand and upgrade its capabilities to serve the cross-border trade. The terminal can handle up to 2 million pounds of freight per day and will employ about 100 people.

Laredo is one of 22 terminals in CF's Mexico division, including 13 along the U.S. border and nine in Mexico.
