The Hansa Meersburg ran into a crane while berthing at Keelung Port, resulting in the damage of 50 containers and port infrastructure, Splash 24/7 reported.
The Hansa Meersburg, a 1,740-TEU containership, collided with a crane at Taiwan’s Keelung Port Monday night, maritime news outlet Splash 24/7 reported.
The Hansa Meersburg was attempting to berth when it ran into the crane, causing it to collapse and damage over 50 containers on board the containership. The containership’s hull and part of the wharf were also damaged.
The incident is under investigation and the vessel is not allowed to leave the port until the damage assessment is complete.
CMA CGM’s subsidiary CNC Line operates the Hansa Meersburg, which was sailing on the intra-Asia JTV loop, according to ocean carrier scheduled and capacity database BlueWater Reporting. The loop is jointly operated by CNC Line and TS Lines.
