The supply chain management and logistics provider will manage Continental’s 21,000-square-meter warehouse at Central Park, Rugby, receiving, storing and transporting around three million tires each year.
Automobile tire manufacturer Continental has tapped CEVA Logistics to handle its warehousing and transportation services in the United Kingdom, according to a statement from CEVA.
Under the new contract, worth $50 million over five years, CEVA will manage Continental’s 21,000-square-meter warehouse at Central Park, Rugby, receiving, storing and transporting around three million tires each year.
CEVA said the logistics solutions it designs for Continental will include “a collaborative hybrid management model with a joint steering committee at the top of its operational structure to ensure a true partnership approach to the successful running of the operation.”
The announcement comes shortly after CEVA launched its TireCity facility in Somaglia, Italy. The 50,000-square-meter TireCity hub is dedicated to warehousing, handling and cross docking of products in the tire market.
“CEVA and Continental share a joint commitment to LEAN methodology, process improvement and optimization techniques,” said Stewart Jackson, supply chain director at Continental. “We were also impressed with the ingenuity CEVA showed with regards to it storage strategies and transport management systems.”
