COSCO AIMS FOR 4TH PLACE IN LINER WORLD RANKING
COSCO Container Lines said that the delivery of 21 new containerships will lift its carrying capacity and ranking among the world’s largest containership operators.
COSCO Container Lines, the liner arm of the China Shipping Co. group, expects to be the fourth largest container shipping company by 2001, with a ship carrying capacity of 250,000 TEUs.
Xu Lirong, managing director COSCO Container Lines, said that seven newly ordered 5,250-TEU ships and 14 new 1,600-TEU vessels will be delivered this year and in 2001.
Currently, COSCO Container Lines owns 106 full container ships and carries about 3.6 million TEUs a year worldwide.
