COSCO AIR FREIGHT VOLUME UP 67%

   COSCO Air Freight, the air cargo arm of the China Ocean Shipping Co.
shipping group, reported a 67-percent increase in cargo volume in 1998, to
a record 60,126 tons.
   The Chinese operator said that COSCO Air Shanghai generated one third of the
total volume.
   COSCO Air Freight reported a profit of 8.7 million Renmibi ($1 million)
last year. No comparable figures were given for 1997.
   COSCO Air Freight aims to move 78,000 tons of air cargo this year.
