COSCO: CHINESE SHIPPING IS “READY FOR CHINA’S WTO ACCESSION”
Chinese shipping companies have prepared themselves for the forthcoming entry of mainland China in the World Trade Organization, a senior executive of state carrier China Ocean Shipping Co. said.
“China’s shipping business is ready for China’s WTO accession,” Chen Zhongbiao, chairman of the COSCO group, told the 9th National People Congress.
Chen said that the liberalization of China’s international shipping business has happened and Chinese shipping companies have restructured, diversified and upgraded themselves.
China’s shipping business is becoming more international and the WTO accession will bring China more opportunities to serve an increasing number of export-import trades, he said.
