COSCO Container Lines launched the intra-Mediterranean Israel Adriatic Service (IAS) last week.
The IAS commenced operations with the Nov. 29 sailing of the 669-TEU Elbdeich from Haifa, according to COSCO’s most recent online service schedules.
The weekly loop has a rotation of Alexandria, Egypt; Haifa, Israel; Ashdod, Israel; Koper, Slovenia; Venice, Italy; Ravenna, Italy; Piraeus, Greece and back to Alexandria.
The 708-TEU K-River is the only other vessel that operates on the IAS.
“This new service represents additional opportunities especially for the fresh produce segment, in import as well as in export direction,” the Port of Koper said.
