COSCO OPENS NEW JAPAN/CHINA LINK

   China Ocean Shipping Co. has launched a fixed day weekly single-ship
service between China and Japan.
   The "Hailong", with a 424-TEU capacity, will sail from Lianyungang
and Qingdao in China on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, and from Bodo, Japan, on
Monday. The first sailing from Lianyungang took place on Wednesday Jan. 5, COSCO said.
   Lianyungang is specially designated as the intermodal connecting port for
Japanese cargo moving long distance into China by rail.
