Costco selects Trailer Bridge for Puerto Rico shipments

Costco Wholesale Corp. has chosen U.S. Jones Act carrier Trailer Bridge to be its exclusive carrier for Puerto Rico shipments.

The contract is expected to start in April although the Jacksonville, Fla.-based operator did make a few trial shipments last summer. Trailer Bridge said the expected revenue from the contract is confidential but it will roughly equate to 5 percent of its southbound container volume.

Costco operates a large chain of membership warehouses, including four warehouses in Puerto Rico.

“We are delighted with this award from one of the largest and most knowledgeable shippers in the lane,” said John D. McCown, Trailer Bridge’s chairman and chief executive officer.
