CrossGlobe to open fifth Va. Warehouse

The CrossGlobe Group said Tuesday it will open an on-dock warehouse for import and export of pulp and paper at the Portsmouth Marine Terminal in Virginia in late 2012.

It is company’s fifth facility in the Port of Virginia.

The Virginia Port Authority board approved funding for the 500,000-square-foot warehouse that will cost about $25 million to build.

The on-dock warehouse at the Portsmouth Marine Terminal will have access to both the Norfolk Southern and CSX railroads.

CrossGlobe was a subsidiary of Lydall Inc., but in 2008 was sold to management, including Bill W. Franks Jr., chief executive officer of CrossGlobe.

Headquartered in Glen Allen, Va., CrossGlobe operates distribution facilities in Monson, Mass.; Newport News and Portsmouth, Va.; Pasadena, Texas; Savannah, Ga.; and Port Elizabeth, N.J.

The Savannah and Port Elizabeth facilities offer long- and short-haul trucking and drayage services.
