Crowley Maritime Corp. has promoted David Nickless to vice president of finance and planning for Crowley’s shipping and logistics business.

He will remain based at the company’s Jacksonville, Fla., office and report to Steve Collar, senior vice president and general manager for logistics.

Nickless will support Crowley’s liner and logistics business units, and be responsible for leading finance and accounting functions and strategic business planning. These business units account for more than $700 million in revenue from operations throughout the United States, Central America and the Caribbean, the company said.

Nickless joined Crowley more than 20 years ago, and since then has held various positions in trucking, finance and management reporting, including manager of business planning, and most recently, director of corporate planning. Overall, he has nearly 35 years experience in the transportation industry, and worked for 11 years with PIE Nationwide prior to joining Crowley.

Crowley also appointed Amiee Cords as director of corporate information technology systems. She will be located in Jacksonville and will report to Gary Jones, vice president of IT.

In this role, Cords will be responsible for Crowley's financial and human resources systems, as well as for the company’s other corporate services departments, including risk management, safety and legal. Ultimately, she will head plans to improve efficiency and provide enhancements for these corporate IT systems.

Since 2007, Cords served as the IT director for Direct Energy in Houston. She also served as IT director at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, Calif., from 2004 to 2007; Qwest Communications in Denver from 2000 to 2004; and Ameritech in Hoffman Estates, Ill. from 1996 to 2000.
