Crowley Maritime Corp. will start a new weekly express less-than-container load (LCL) service from Houston to Puerto Rico on Feb. 8.
The line said the service will have a transit time of 11 days, with relay service available to Caribbean destinations, including Antigua, St. Kitts/Nevis, Anguilla, St. Eustatius, St. Bart’s, Montserrat and Saba. Crowley and its subsidiary Jarvis International Freight, a Houston-based international freight management and logistics company, with provide the service.
“For the time being, the cargo will be handled in Houston using Crowley subsidiary Jarvis’ warehouse and then trucked via Crowley equipment to Jacksonville,” said a Crowley spokesperson. “From Jacksonville, the cargo will be shipped via vessel to Puerto Rico.
“We have a large warehouse on the island that can provide full services and door deliveries, and we have vessel connections to the Caribbean from Puerto Rico, as well. It’s a complete supply chain from Houston to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean,” the spokesperson added.
Crowley already operates traditional full-container load vessel service with regular sailings to San Juan from its Pennsauken, N.J. and Jacksonville, Fla., terminals.
