CSAV, NYK LAUNCH ASIA/ WEST COAST NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA CENPAC SERVICE
Chilean line Compania Sud-Americana de Vapores and Nippon Yusen Kaisha, partners in the “Andex” service, are launching a new joint Asia/Los Angeles/west coast Central and South America “Cenpac” service in parallel with “Andex.”
Like Andex, Cenpac will load in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, but with Busan as the last Asian port of loading, instead of Hong Kong. Cenpac ships will then call in Vancouver, Manzanillo, Puerto Quetzal, Balboa and San Antonio.
The first Cenpac ship, the “Illapel,” will leave Busan March 10 and Vancouver on March 22.
The Andex schedule runs direct from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, Manzanillo, Balboa and then serves three or four South American West Coast ports before San Antonio.
On the return leg Andex calls two or three South American ports, then at Manzanillo, before sailing direct to Yokohama. Cenpac will make similar South American loading calls but omits Manzanillo, calling instead at Puerto Quetzal and Los Angeles before Yokohama.
