About two miles of track is located in the Atlanta region.
CSX Transportation Inc. has filed a verified notice of exemption with the Surface Transportation Board to abandon an approximately 2.04-mile rail line referred to as the Kudzu Line.
The Kudzu Line is located in CSX’s Southern Region, Atlanta Division, Atlanta Terminal Subdivision between mileposts ANB 862.66 and 863.94 in Fulton County, Ga.
CSX has certified that no local traffic has moved over the line for at least two years; any overhead traffic on the line can be rerouted; and no formal complaint filed by a user of rail service on the line regarding cessation of service over the line is pending.
Provided no formal expression of intent to file an offer of financial assistance has been received, the exemption will be effective on July 27, unless stayed pending reconsideration, according to the Federal Register. Petitions to reopen or requests for public use conditions must be filed by July 17 with the Surface Transportation Board.
